    I have a question about the test pit/ evaluation trench that was dug in 1997 and uncovered by trench 10 this year. Does anyone know whether it was in filled by hand or by machine? I would imagine it would be by hand but could someone confirm it?

    By hand - we pretty much never used machines in those days. It was a long, hot, day of shovelling and jumping up and down per test pit! Happy to pick over the memory for anything else from back then but there is a certain amount of punch damage...
